Worked example: 1250 correct characters over 5 minutes gives 50 WPM: correct characters ÷ 5 ÷ elapsed minutes. Corrections remain visible in keystroke accuracy even when final text is correct. Compare the same duration and input method.

Because the sample is larger, your gross WPM and error-adjusted WPM will typically be closer together than on a 1-minute test — a large gap between the two on a 5-minute run is a sign accuracy, not speed, is your real limiting factor.
